“I’d imagine he has a love of archaeology that may be more then his love of puzzles for him to continue teaching. Once a man’s mind is set, it’s hard to change.”
“Hmm. He does enjoy his work, so I suppose I shouldn’t complain.”
“If it isn’t too rude, what about you, sir? There are so many things you could be doing, yet you chose to become a detective. Not that it isn’t a great profession, but I’ve always been a bit curious.”
“Is that so? Well that’s good. London could always use another hand. Though he is a professor, not a detective, he has the skills to become one.. He is an archaeology professor, correct?”
“Yes, at Gressenheller University. From what I’ve heard, he is an excellent professor, but his love of mysteries and puzzles make me think he would be even better as a detective. I’ve never been able to convince him, though.”
“I had only met him not too long ago. A wonderful and smart man, his deduction skills are sharp and he was certainly a true gentleman.”

“Oh, that’s why. And yes, that does sound exactly like him. Everyone loves him, especially the Yard, and he’s discovered so many things in his travels. He’s even saved London! One day, I hope to be more like him.”
“Ah it’s alright. We all have something we get excited over. Though you may have a point. Detectives are often the people giving people closure and finding criminals. Professor? As in Professor Hershel Layton?”
“Yes, that Professor! Have you met him? It’s odd that he’s never told me about you before. I don’t think he would have forgotten about you, either.”
“Yes, that’d be true. A case left unsolved becomes harder to solve.”
“And that’s why London needs people like you and the Professor! The city would not still be standing, otherwise.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, I can get, um, a little enthusiastic sometimes.”
“You flatter me, Miss Flora. And we can not be certain those cases would go unsolved. Perhaps they’d be solved over a longer period of time.”

“That may be true, but it’d be better to finish them more quickly, wouldn’t it? The longer you take, the colder the trail gets, after all, and the culprit might have already escaped if it takes too long.”
“I don’t believe myself to be that famous, quite frankly. I’m a simple detective, nothing more.”
“Oh, but you are! You’re really smart, you notice everything that other people miss, and without you, I’m sure that there would be many cases that would never have been solved.”
“Ah, pleasure to meet you, Miss Flora. Might I ask, why would you be surprised to see me?”
She pondered a moment, trying to think as to how to phrase this. “Well, sir, it’s because you’re famous, especially here in London. It’s hard to find someone who hasn’t heard of you.”

“Hello. Sherlock Holmes, how may I assist you?”
“… Sh-Sherlock Holmes? How…”
Even compared to some of the other things that had happened to her, meeting someone she thought only existed in books was completely absurd. Still, even in her shock, she was able to perform her usual curtsey, if not as elegantly as normal.
“I apologize, I was just… a little surprised, is all. I’m Flora Reinhold.”
